Nylon 0.2f ---------- HOW TO USE NYLON: To run nylon in simple, dangerous mode, just double-click nylon.exe. I provided a safer version of nylon which only allows connections from 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1 always refers to the local computer -- ie nobody but you can connect to your nylon). The best thing to do is open a DOS window, "cd" over to the nylon directory and type "nylon.exe -h" and pick what to do. ABOUT NYLON: this software is very much in development. to kill it you have to close the DOS window and click "yes, please kill the program that's running...". nylon webite: http://mesh.eecs.umich.edu/projects/nylon/ author: Marius Aamodt Eriksen me (the guy who made it work on windows): Andrew de los Reyes the code is released under a bsd type license, which allows a duplicate of the code to be licensed under the GPL for linking with the cygwin dll. this windows version, therefore, is released under the terms of the GPL. please see COPYING.txt for the specifics of that. also, for the installer i used NSIS if you want to uninstall manually, just delete the nylon folder in your "program files" folder and the nylon folder in your start menu items foler. Q & A: "What?" you ask, "don't i need an unistaller to take care of DLLs and icky-registry stuff??" Nope! The only DLL that nylon uses is cygwin1.dll which resides in the nylon folder in "program files." also, nylon doesn't muck with your registry, so it's really nice to un/install and upgrade. Of course, I do provide an uninstaller which does what I just mentioned. "How do I get rid of that annoying DOS window on the screen?" For now the only solution is to hit the minimize button. I'll probably create a GUI interface which will probably sport a task-bar icon and no DOS window. "How much does the full featured version of nylon cost?" Well, I suppose if you paid me I could take some features out and call it a "demo verion" or something, but for now you're going to have to settle for the full featured version which costs nothing. cry me a river. "Wow! this is great! I feel obligated to pay you guys anyway." Actually, as far as I know, neither I nor Marius are asking for money. If you really have too much money, you should go buy a bigger wallet. -andrew
